As a local to this area, this has happened many times here. The driver was supposed to turn right at the bridge. The road is just out of shot in this clip.

This happened just down the road from where I live. I suspect, the driver was not familiar with the route, as the same thing happened a few years ago. The driver should have turned right into Manor Road which is next to the railway. The driver involved in the earlier accident, was interviewed by the police, but when it came to him being summoned to have an interview with his employer, he disappeared never to be seen again.

They are not supposed to use that bridge road. I've been on the 197 before, the driver probably wasn't reading the sign of the height limit

The route has been worked from Peckham for five years now. I bet that Croydon drivers would be more familiar with the area. Even so there used to be, and perhaps it is still there, a sign showing that the route for double-deck buses is along Manor Road.

Is the driver blind ? I mean it’s too tall for it to go under the bridge

Low Bridge Detection System is installed on all of London's buses. No excuse for this accident. Simlar strike happened in 2015, when the 197 was operated by Arriva, at the same spot.

There are signs before and a sign for bus diversion to avoid "LOW BRIDGE" but TfL drivers don't speak English.

They should start to drive single decker buses instead of double deckers, due to how tall it is
