If your iCloud is full or you are almost out of iCloud storage on your iPhone or iPad, there are several things you can try to empty iCloud storage before needing to upgrade to a larger plan.

You can find your iCloud storage and manage the storage under the settings app.
Most often, the top three items taking up the most space are photos, backups, and messages. You can download photos on a computer or use another service such as Google photos if you want to remove photos from iCloud.

For backups, you can see if there are old backups you don't need and delete them as well. It's one of the fastest ways to clear storage on iCloud.

You can also check messages and email and delete them if you don't need them on iCloud.
