WHAT IS A STRENGTH-BASED INTERVIEW?
Strength-based questions are becoming more common during interviews, and they are used as a way to assess how your core qualities and abilities are a match for the job you are being interviewed for.

On the surface, strength-based interview questions appear to be very easy to answer; however, they are in fact quite difficult to respond to, simply because the interviewer is looking for a specific response that matches the person specification.

Just had my first ever strength based interview and I used your techniques which gave me a confident boost because the questions they asked were so out of the blue but I had the basics to cover. Will keep you updated if I get the job but thank you Richard definitely helped me with my nerves and have more confidence in my answers!

Hi Richard, I just wanted to take the time to thank you for your guidance as I've found your videos an invaluable resource helping me to prep for today (my first Civil Service interview is coming up in just a few hrs). I have, over the past few weeks, watched and studied your assessments of the interview process and visited your website.
I am a first-time applicant for the role but it's interesting to see the overlap in relevant experiences from my prior work experiences. The nerves are now amping up a bit as it's drawing closer... but I'd be a lot worse off were it not for your excellent insight.

When someone brings cakes into the office😂 😂. I mean that would tell me that they'd have a good sense of humour, are pleasant to be around, and potentially good at building a positive rapport with colleagues on a more personal level, which is healthy in a team. I really don't get why some interviews have to be so over the top sugar-coated and formal. For me it can easily come across as fake or just put on, but each to their own.

It's a bit crazy though when you think about it how someone who doesn't really have these qualities can just learn this and lie to get the job. I think it would be better if interviews were scrapped all together and based on your qualifications you were given a couple of weeks trial period

Thanks for this useful video Richard. How they actually evaluate those answers, and how they calculate the score? I was asked last week during my interview - What do I enjoy doing in my spare time and I answered: cycling, spending time with my dog and walking around nature outdoors. Is this good enough answer. I was wondering how they decide if this is good answer. Thanks!
