This made me think of the time I had an MRI on my shoulder. One of my arms were pressed up against the side of the scanner bore during the entire twenty or thirty something minute scan due to the device put on my other shoulder to keep it still. During certain phases of the scan I felt a burning/heat sensation on the arm that was against the bore, but I thought nothing of it until a few months after the scan I came across a video explaining that it's possible to get a low temperature burn from an MRI machine if you're touching the bore during a scan. I can say from first hand experience that's true. I didn't have any obviously visible burning on my arm, if anything at all, but I did feel something like a burning sensation as I mentioned previously.

The machine even destroys camera focus

The reason it heats is because electrons roaming freely through the metal gain more energy, and so does the atoms. And it is caused by magnetic fields speeding the electrons

My cousin has a bunch of homemade tattoos, I've been told they used rust as a pigment in the tattoos, he got in an MRI and it cooled him where his tattoos were

I got an MRI once that made me paranoid about them to this day: the tech ran down the questions so fast like, “No pensions? No jewelry? No …(etc.)” that I just answered no to everything out of reflex for some reason. Then he told me NOT to fully undress, just to remove my pants since it was o knee. Well I forgot that I was wearing TWO WATCHE$$$, and I only realized it when I felt them being magnetically pulled!!!

I freaked the F out; he chuckled and said it doesn’t ruin them. It only turns them off or resets them. But I vowed to myself from then on, IDGAF what the tech says, I will insist on fully disrobing so I can get into a full gown so I know that I don’t have anything left on myself!!😅😅😅😅 I didn’t used to hate MRIs before that, but all I could think about during that one was that I’d forgotten about some piercing or a belt or something else & that metal was going to rip through my flesh and stick to the machine. I DON’T EVEN HAVE ANY PIERCINGS except my ears and I never even wear earrings most of the time—that’s how freaked out that made me!!

Iron! The machine wants IRON. Some stainless is magnetic, some isn't. Generally the stainless used for surgical purposes is non-magnetic.

Ahhh always wondered why non magnetic metals were still bad in an MRI. Thanks 🙏

Larry, what about the platinum in my head??? The doctor said I would be fine.

What happens if you have metal hardware in your body?

Dude this is why I am so scared of doctors and different types of machines in the hospital

gold is not ferromagnetic, but since is metal, would cause image artifacts and even, the rf may warm up the metal

Platinum, gold, and steriling silver are not magnetic and will be ripped out. However, the MRI can excite these metals and cause severe burns.

When I was hospitalized I had a portable heart monitor on the entire time, and when I went to get an mri they rushed me when I was undressing and I forgot to take the nodes off my chest & abdomen. They didn’t do anything though thankfully.

It's been soooo long since you made a video! When are you gonna do more?

I was made to get in one once with a stainless steel screw in leg.needless to say I wasn't there long

So it’s basically a kind of Microwave toward metals :, )

Can you explain gauss lines and why they are at different distances?

I had my knees replaced and I know there is metal inside me. Does this mean I can never have another MRI?

Yes yes very true, , , patients over knowledge do not work here... Lab incharge rules must be complied..

What about people that have metal bones and such or screws?
