App Academy is a coding bootcamp that only takes payment from its students after they get a job - it takes a cut of the first year's salary. The program opens up opportunities for those without cash on hand, but is it legal?

Most people don't know that you can learn by yourself perfectly fine and still get a job.

Who needs to do this is companies themselves to find junior programmers!! This is how I got my first programming job in the 1980s doing IBM 370 ALC. Back then some companies would give some aptitude testing and interviews, then put accepted applicants through a training program. Most places did require a college degree, but not in computer field. Some wanted a technical degree of some sort, but others took liberal art majors. If companies want future programming staff to be able to speak and write English sentences and deal with users in support, then look beyond pure coders.

My training was for 3 months, then after training to doing programming projects under supervision of senior staff. The opportunity for entry level programming jobs without a CS degree disappeared over the years. Why isn't this done anymore?

Large companies could set up their own boot camps to train raw talent. Why instead do we leave potential talent languishing and bring in so many H1B visa programmers from other parts of the world? Not everyone needs to have a CS degree either. Let's realize that plenty of folks can be good programmers, if given the chance and the training.

"Head hunters" finding jobs already take a percentage of someone's salary, but they get the money from the employer. This education company maybe can partner with large firms to get around the blocks by state rules that way?

I don't know about others countries, but in France in big companies, coding do not allow you to grow to top management positions, they want you to stay a technical expert. For the difficulty of this job it's not worthwhile . You gonna see the projects managers and business analyst taking the credit and promotions for your realisations. The constant communication, articles and videos promoting coding are partly pushed by those people who don't want to code but taking the credits of the work of their fresh coding workforce.

this could help those who have the aptitude for programming but for whatever reason do not have the money to pay for higher education. I can't help but wonder if employers will hire someone who can program but has no previous work experience and does not have a formal degree? this will still not help the homeless situation because there will be those who don't have the aptitude for programming which many do not. Also what about those who are near 50? Most companies, if not all, tend to not hire due to age. This includes programmers. Which then raises the question, suppose someone gets the instruction but then fails to land a job after searching and searching? The school never collects? It would seem that the school's best interest would be to do job placement as well. I can guarantee that a person in their 50's (and perhaps even younger) who learns programming and has no previous work experience in that field, is not going to be hired. not in a million years. They make it sound like if you learn programming you are as good as hired even if you are an ex-con. just learn programming and you'll have it made. Big lie.
Universal basic income is the only solution to help the population have the basic necessities which everyone has a RIGHT to whether an individual is able/wants to work or not. At the same time, UBI also gives people freedom to choose what they want to do with their lives. Learning programming is another form of corporate techno-slavery. UBI can also help people to have more than just the necessities of life. Life should never be a struggle to survive while others are super wealthy. Civilization is about people helping others. True this programming BS helps others but people need to choose their future for themselves, not have it chosen for them. It is the obligation of the wealthy to help the public that made them rich in the first place. If one does not like that then do not become rich.

“Every year from now, til 2020 their will be an extra 100k positions for softwear engineers that are going unfilled”. Ahh it’s 2020 now. This is like the Millenium bug in 2020. Imagine what bugs you will learn from this.
