-----------------------------

Pfsense is the best way to turn an old computer into a top shelf router. This video is really in-depth and nerdy... just a warning.

The instructions weren't clear enough. I got my 10 gigabit nic stuck in the cd drive...

I've been using pfSense for about 6 months now, and it's a treat. I have VPN's, proxies, and an IDS setup with mine including a whole lot of firewall rules. I love pfSense, any questions and I'll try to answer it for you.

This video is amazing guys, you've done an excellent work!

As a petition I would like you to make a video about:
PfSense configuration for "LOAD BALANCING",

using the same NIC configuration setup as in this video, it would be like using two WAN's connected via ethernet from the ISP routers to the PC and transmit the balance of those two via WLAN.

I will be very thankful, cheers!

So this was the first tek syndicate video I ever watch, and have been a huge fan of the channel since. Finally found a reason to use pfsense in the home, install pfsense on an astaro 220 to push all my traffic through a vpn.

You guys are great, just felt like checking up on the old stuff.

Thanks so much for your video! I wasn't able to install it initially because I was getting an error "ad0: WARNING - ATA_IDENTIFY required due to channel reset LBA=0" but google told me to change my SATA hard drive from Compatible to AHCI and then it installed perfectly. I like it WAY better than DD-WRT and the performance is simply amazing :) Thanks again. -Jamie M.

Hands down, this is the best advice I got this year. Thanks guys for getting me started down this road. I can't believe how many hits my pfBlocker gets from Asia... Hopefully you will do more config/tuning videos on this product now that 2.1 is out and IPv6 is covered

Been using PFsense for years and I still love it, for my 'newest' router/hw firewall
I've used an older C2D Dell Optiplex that i bought dirt cheap 2nd hand.
Bought an new 30GB ssd and 8GB of ram. 2nd hand 4xGbit LAN network card from Intel (those enterprise pci-e cards)
In total spend less then 130usd /100eur and have one hell of a router!

There is a mistake in the instructions. The subnet mask on the WiFi static IPv4 configuration should not be set to 32 otherwise it limits the DHCP server on that interface. The subnet mask is not for the host address it is actually for the network address.
