A couple of disclosures to start: a) I am European so very happy Germany won, b) I think Kerr is the epitome of a gentleman. Now, Germany played an amazing game if the last 4 mons or so are excluded. The game should not have been this close with how well Germany played on offence. Very well coached and very aggressive and confident - a pure joy to watch. On the other hand, this was by far not the strongest US team. This is not an excuse because if you want to be called "world champions" (hint hint Noah Lyles) you have to field a decent enough team. On the other hand, I can see why a lot of US players are reluctant to participate or prefer to rest and recup. There is no upside for US players...you win and everyone says thats the bare minimum and you just did your job; you lose and it is a notional existential crisis. 

In reality, I believe, Americans should be semi-happy about this development, Basketball is probably the only purely American sport that has been exported and embraced with such success. Football isn't big anywhere else and is somewhat related to rugby, and baseball is only played in a handful of other countries and also is related to cricket (shortened to something that is watchable and doesn't break for tea and sandwiches).

Kerr is a great coach and sportsman and Team USA does not deserve all the hate.

You can always lose to a team that is on fire. That is the beauty of sports.

Poor social justice warrior Steve Kerr. He had the same fate as a Megan Rapinoe and the U.S. women's soccer team. I feel sorry for none of them. Maybe he should have had some WNBA players on the team. I'm surprised Rapinoe didn't recruit some transgenders to play for the women. Boo hoo. I've never rooted against the U.S. but this the first time that I really didn't feel bad for loosing after the way they disrespect this country. It's not the U.S. that I'm not rooting for but the evil people that are apart of these teams. I want to be clear that it's not the majority of the players on the team but few bad apples ruin the rest.
