In ancient Egypt, the name "Kemet" was used in reference to the "black land" for a long time. It is also believed that this name was given to the region by the Egyptians who had been displaced by the Nile flood. As the Nile floods in Egypt often occur during the summer, it is not surprising that the Nile was also a source of food for the ancient Egyptians.

this was fascinating but there was so much christian biasism, as historians it is our duty to remain objective and the writer or this has failed.
it is very interesting to observe where the ideas of christianity originate from and how they have evolved, but the author talks about the christian god in times far before any idea of him were consived (since ancient egypt is older than 1000 bc, the latest period at which the old testament might have been written).
but i will say this lapse got me to observe at how we call the egyptian afterlife heaven as it is located above (or in the west), and the greek afterlife hell as it is bellow (according to hesiod, in the west according to homer). on one hand it is sad that we are still using christian terminology for things quite unrelated, but on the other it allows us to observe that these are the very thematic origins for christian beliefs which i find quite fascinating.
