Dumbo's so much harder to watch fully-grown, because you understand the mother's perspective whether or not you're a parent. When you're a kid, you relate to Dumbo and certainly feel sorry for the mum, but, when you're older, you're aware of all the levels of distress, fear, sadness, and helplessness a parent separated from their baby must feel.

My mother used to sing this to me as a child to make me fall asleep and to calm me down if my anxiety was getting to me. Now she is gone and I listen to this song to keep her memory strong.

I love you so much Mum, I will never forget my greatest hero.

Everyone says it's Mufasa's death, but no. THIS IS THE SADDEST DISNEY MOMENT

when dumbo just bursts into tears and crying into his mother's trunk just immediately breaks me down. a little baby whos been taken away from their mother and has been just alone and abused since finally gets to feel his mother's touch for just a moment.

i mean the lion king scene destroys me everytime but I can watch it. i never like to watch dumbo anymore simply because of this scene. i find it almost unbearable.

This always shatters my heart. Was a fav of my son's when he was little. He enlisted 9 days after 9-11 and as a result is now buried in the Riverside Natl Cemetery. His b-day is in 2 weeks. Miss him so much.

I'm a grown-ass man, turning 24, and upon watching this clip I came out of my room crying and sobbed into my mother's shoulder.

If you’re a man and you cry to this, Be proud of yourself, you're a good man!

It really made me emotional when Dumbo’s mother was excited and moved towards the window but when she looked down, she seen that she was held back by her chains. But ...just the way she looked up again, animated and thrilled with just being able to touch him by stretching her trunk out of the window.

What enraged me is the fact that mrs jumbo wasn’t insane at all. She is a true mother protecting her child from being ostracized because of something he was born with. This reminds me of how disabled people are still treated badly

The part where Dumbo starts crying and rubs his face into his Mothers trunk. Gets me everytime.

This is classic old disney and animation, no words, no pop culture references, just heart warming music and the animation itself to carry a scene...

Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart,
Never to part, baby of mine.

Little one when you play
Don't you mind what they say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine

From your head to your toes
You're so sweet, goodness knows
You are so precious to me
Cute as can be, baby of mine

The reverse psychology is strong in this song.
"Baby mine, don't you cry..."
Literally everybody:

I’d rub my son’s back and hum this song when he was coughing so hard from cancer that he couldn’t stop. It worked but it didn’t save his life. He was 25 and my baby forever. ❤

My mother passed away on April 26, 2024. I have been hanging in there. It is hard to hold on knowing your mother's time is over.

I'm sorry, Tim Burton. But you didn't do justice to this scene.

This is absolutely sad and beautiful.

I am a man, a heavy metal fan.
Everytime I watch this scene, I have to cry. This is by far the most saddest movie scene in the movie history. Even for people who lost a child of their parents. My heart is with them.
