500 to 10 meters per second. 500 kms to 3000 kms. Trapping range. Potential energy traps around 50 meters. That's why water takes off. For moon you have to reduce the speed to less than 5 meters per second to be safe landing. That's why touch down takes almost an hour after entry into moons gravity from 3000 kms.

There is a problem during the firing of quick-launch vehicles. It is also LEO and usually just below LEO. ICBM and SLBM cannot quick-launch. In the event of any ballistics in that region, ... It will be expensive. Just below LEO detonation can affect LEO for both conventional and nuclear. Very risky to put anything there for longer than weather-balloon duration of days...
