THE MAKING OF DUNE (1984) Original Behind-The-Scenes Featurettes

A compilation of two original behind-the-scenes featurettes aired on North American TV (Night Flight and Standby... Lights! Camera! Action!) in 1984 to promote the release of David Lynch's DUNE (1984), featuring lots of interviews and footage not on any DVD or Blu-ray or UHD release. The quality is quite poor (hissy audio throughout and lots and lots of tape rolls!) but I'm sure Dune fans won't mind seeing these off-air VHS-taped rarities. Features interviews with David Lynch, Frank Herbert, Raffaela de Laurentiis, Kyle MacLachlan, Anthony Masters, Freddie Francis, Jose Ferrer, Francesca Annis, Paul Smith, Kit West, David Paich and Steve Porcaro (Toto), and Alan Splet.

1984 Dune is still such an underrated film, there is so much excellence about it.

15:17 I wish more authors were more like Herbert, he really understands the barrier between the literal and visual mediums

I watch so analog horror that when the tape gets distorted, I was expecting some creepy monster to show up on screen.

Dune is the single most impactful, interesting and mesmerizing movie I have ever seen, comparable only to "Alien" and "2001: A Space Oddisey". I watch it every year, perpetually in awe with Herbert's story and Lynch's talent. Simply amazing.

My guess is the tape is VHS. Buying a VHS tape was like flipping a coin and praying it landed in your favor. Betamax was SO much better.
