Yet when they asked Cassar how he was the only one to beat Gable Steveson they never brought up the fact that Gable was a true Freshman (18) while Cassar was a super senior in his mid twenty’s 🤔

He was 24. Plenty of kids have been older like Daton Fix, Michael Kemerer etc

My dad used to tell me and my brothers the sun is always gonna shine the next day… I tell my kids the same thing.

If graduates want to keep performing in athletics, i do think they should be allowed to. I know its kinda scummy but it always felt odd that you could technically be enrolled in classes as a grad or doctorate student but no longer allowed to compete in school athetics if you used up your eligibility time. This would also remove the redshirting system which would be nice. Just make it so after you use up your eligibility time, you no longer get school sponsored scholarships, so if you want to compete and continue your post ungrad education, you can but at your own expense

Ya got dudes staying 6 and 7 years nowadays as the planned. O’Connor was coming off a nasty knee injury. Don’t downplay a two time ncaa champ. Dude was a stud.

I don't think this should matter😢

Why does AGE matter? I don’t understand why that’s even being discussed. Weight classes for a reason. I could see at the youth level - age makes huge difference because of maturity and developmental reasons - but as an adult, aside from EXPERIENCE, age shouldn’t matter. The sport has everything to do with technique, preparedness and mental toughness.

It’s openly ridiculous that they decided to grant blanket eligibility to everyone in 2020, thus distorting the next 5 years of ncaa competition and denying countless athletes who matriculated from ‘21 to ‘24 the success they would’ve had in any other era of their sport, including future eras post 2025. All Americans, titles, team accomplishments, status, opportunities etc. cause some year 6er was “eligible”. This is especially awful in a sport like wrestling where the very best 26 year olds will always be better than the best 20 year olds, excepting the occasional prodigy.

Imagine Being 19 only knowing wrestling joining a Naga tournament and beating grown men in their gi, then losing for 1st to a black belt and being told, "That's why jiu-jitsu is better."

Wrestling is wrestling. For a 45 year old man to make it to the finals in the NCAA tournament, just lets you know that anything can happen in the sport of wrestling.
