Beware everyone. I'm obviously overthinking this:

This tackles a subtle concept that most people aren't even aware about. It's like this; Dan is a player. We know this. He's more real than the game he's playing, on a higher dimensional plane than the one Josie and other NPCs exist in. On the other hand, the game is the only reality Josie has ever known, so she's couldn't have understood why Dan behaves the way he does. She is not aware of the higher dimensional plane that the real Dan exists, so she couldn't have known she was just a video game character. The idea that Dan treats life as a sort of game while Josie takes everything kinda seriously because of where they both are is like an existential conflict that neither of the characters will ever realize.

With that in mind, It's unfortunately possible Dan is going to continue to act the way he does regardless of how the other NPCs feel about this. He's pretty much doomed to be a jerk in the game unless someone talks him out of it.

And what's even more sad... In a way, Dan is us and we are Dan.

Fun fact: the final dialogue with Dan and Ana is different in the StudioJoho version. In the StudioJoho version, Ana revealed to Dan that he needed to marry Josie to beat the game meaning that he dumped an NPC that was the key to beating the game

I love how advanced an arcade game is, that Dan did alot to npcs

Somehow an 8-bit virtual girl is able to manifest feelings, meaning she has the life of an average person.

I kinda wish there was a MMO in Dan The Dan that you unlock after beating the game so you can join peoples servers as your own custom character to have chat with other players, fight them to test your skills or just mess around with the king's goons, have cool parties, make you're own home or check out other players homes, or even make your own server. It would be great to have that in game.

Why did they change the ending? Ana was supposed to tell Dan that he has to marry the NPC to win the game.
