Drive to Elafonissi Beach, Crete || Greece 4K UHD

Elafonisi is located 76km west of Chania and 5km south of Chrysoskalitisa Monastery, in the southwesternmost tip of Crete. Elafonisi is an oblong peninsula, which often breaks in two parts by water giving the impression of being a separate island. It is a Natura 2000 protected area. The island is full of sand dunes with sea daffodils and jupiners. The endangered loggerhead sea turtle and several more rare animals and plants find shelter on the island; it is strictly forbidden to remove any plants, animals, shells and sand from the area.

So if you go from chania to the beach and just follow google maps of gps it will follow this road? Or did you search this route seperately?

I read on websites that there is a road from Chania to this beach through the mountains, which is 75 km, and along the coast, which is 86 km. The question is which road is this, which you filmed, through the mountains or along the sea? I read that there is a narrow road and uneven and full of bends, and I did not see that in this video of yours.
Thanks in advance for your reply, please let me know if you can because tomorrow we are traveling there from Rethymnon via Chania, , by rental car. And do you recommend going to the Chrysoskalitissa monastery and Kedra beach, Topolia George, Topolia Tunnel, Cave of Saint Sofia...I think primarily because of the road, the safety of the road itself, thank you very much again.

I'd much rather drive these roads with a car rather than a huge tourist bus like last time 😅

I was in a bus to Elafonisi from Agia Marina. The narrow roads were a bit scary. But the most scariest part was when two black birds flew against the wind screen of our bus..😮
I sat of course near the bus driver and we all jumped from our seats. Not the driver, I hope.
We were on that mountain part, but not yet on the very narrow part.
I loved Elafonisi, Crete...and I can never go there anymore! Elafonisi was not even crowded, there was even free beach chairs under the trees. I did not buy any food, because of the short time we spent there. But you could really buy food also there. The pub owners on the way said that we should buy bread from them, because in Elafonisi they don´t sell food...🍞.
I miss you, Crete...
