We went to Elafonisi for the first time last June. It was just as beautiful as we imagined it. We did end up renting a car and driving ourselves there from Chania, though.We wanted to spend at least a couple of days, there, so we needed up booking a very nice place, located literally steps away from the parking lot, and convenience store.
I highly recommend people who visit Crete to make it a point to visit Elafonisi at least once.

An Australian traveller here, I’ve just returned from the Greek Islands and I was underwhelmed with the beaches I saw…great water, but pebble and gravel instead of sand, and little to no shade options, no thanks. I felt like I was on a quarry. Great to see you showcasing Greek beaches that have sand. More of these please.
