This pic in background has so many depo meanings, when L died kira ruled for years and killed people and nobody was able to oppose was all darkness then near came as form of new hope and as you can see in the pic darkness is everywhere but there is a little flash of light coming in form of hope

Near is a Genius also because he understands the fact that L is far superior than him. Maybe, among the three, L, Mello and Near, due to being the last out of capital letter he may be the less intelligent one. But Near calculates everything even the fact that he isn't as genius as L was. He always wanted to cooperate with Mello. Even so, he knows that he is special. Near was the only one who could defeat Kira.
