NESTED SEQUENCE with MARKERS in Adobe Premiere Pro - the BEST TRICK for editing videos!

Check out the my Premiere Pro extension that significantly speeds up editing talking head videos and screen recordings!

In this video I show how to add markers in Premiere Pro to nested sequences in order to visualise what's inside the nest and make it easier to work with video clips grouped inside a nest. Nested sequences allow you to group clips together and be able to apply any effect to such a group e.g. lumetri for color grading or parametric equalizer for audio processing. It's a very efficient and flexible way to edit because you can always go inside the nest and change something on the source clips which will affect the entire nested sequence. Using markers in a smart way allow you to sort of see inside the nested sequence from the outside making it so much easier and faster to edit your videos.

Great tips with the markers. I was interested in watching your second video that you mentioned regarding double nested sequences but it's a card does not show up on the right side and searching it here on YouTube. I got nothing. You may want to consider also adding links in the description for videos you recommend as the card icon is faulty and doesn't always show on all devices like my mobile phone for instance

Holy shit.... This really is a game changer, I don't understand why adobe hasn't already natively included a function you can enable to see the sub nested item names, I personally end up with about 30 + nested sequences deep by the time i've finished editing a video for youtube, it can become a bit of a labyrinth but it's important for me to break up each step of my editing, one sequence for arranging clips, the next is usually callouts and text, another nest for titles and then music last usually haha <3

Can this same trick be done in Final Cut?The marker on nested timeline just improved my workflow by 100% on premiere

I have a timeline with an intro animation > a nested sequence > and outro animation. Is there a way to drag new footage into the nested sequence (with a shorter or longer duration than previous footage) and the nested sequence will automatically extend or shorten while keeping the outro animation snapped to the end of it?

For example you could rename the name of your timeline clips with "walking towards" and "walking away" (it wouldn't change the name of your source clip in the project panel !) and apply the panel described in my video and anytime you change the editing you could update the markers in a few clicks, it'll use the new timeline clip name you won't have to rename them again nor change manually the ins and outs (see video tutorial !)

Did the nested sequence help you by the time you had done all the work to mark and label everything inside?
