I served onboard the USS Midway for 3 years. (Early 80's) One thing I do know is the aircraft carrier is dependent on its screen of picket ships for protection. We do not have enough surface ships to protect any carrier battle group. Aircraft carriers are nothing more than big fat targets. I served when we had a 500+ ship navy. Today we have about 270 ships but many of them can't leave the dock. I was involved in a "wargame" while in the service and nothing puckers your anus like seeing a periscope 100 yards off the port bow. We were "sunk"...

Even with all its issues, the Ford is a thousand times better than the tofu dreg built Fujian.
There are questions about the Fujian even reaching full operational capability and likely will never travel far from China.
Corruption has really taken its toll.
A shame really because on paper it should be an excellent ship.

I don't believe the Chinese are planning to go 1v1 in an aircraft carrier naval battle.
If the two aircraft carrier formations and their escorts have to fight, the Type 055 and 052d destroyers will use their 1500km range YJ-21 hypersonic ballistic missiles to target the US aircraft carrier and their escorts, probably their J-15 flanker how have an autonomy of 3600kms with internal fuel or 1500/1700kms of action radius or the J-35 of 3000/1300kmskms with their yj-18 missiles of 500/600kms range or the supersonic yj-12s of more than 400/500kms range .
Not to mention their type 093b submarines with the same weapons.
The autonomy of the Superhornet and F-35c is lower than their Chinese equivalent and communist missiles have a longer range than the US equivalent.

The Chinese defeated the French army during the Indochina War. They also defeated the Americans in Vietnam and a US-led coalition, made up of the British, Australians, Canadians, New Zealanders, French and other nations, during the Korean War.
