Lol, love this! Let the MG with "maverick" spirit put in 2 cents, haha. Similar thoughts and results. Not niche with slow growth. BUT. What I am seeing (and this is confirmed through other sources) is that the trend is that SEO is way less effective now and matters less. What matters MORE is your genuine connection and promo outside of YT. So, if you don't want to go niche and want to continue the "passion" videos, you will need to drive traffic to YT through other sources. Like, IG, TikTok, email list etc. Harder to do, yes. Future-proofed, yes.

Love your energy in this video. The pain in real. My channel exploded for an audience I didn't need. I made a video titled "Why I hire People In the Philippines" and it attracted the amazing people of the Philippines who wanted to work for me, instead of entrepreneurs to wanted to learn from me.

I'm growing very slowly and it hasn't changed one bit. But going "super niche" is just not what I'm about. I'm hoping that over time, YouTube algorithm is going to find the right people who will enjoy any of my videos because of my unique personal touch. I've been very patient, standing at below 1, 500 subscribers after over 2 years of really focusing on building my channel. Is this a waste of time? - I hope not. A disappointment? -A little.
I'm watching your videos every so often when your thumbnail get my attention. Long time subscriber.

I have had a channel for around 5 years. I started doing only male nursing related content. I have since continued the nursing content, but also added automotive, and parenting all on the same channel. Although my channel is much smaller than yours I didn’t see any decrease in subscribers when I introduced different types of videos, I actually saw a faster increase. I say keep 1 channel and do you. Also I have been following your channel since I bought a purple panda microphone from your affiliate on one of your videos a few years ago.

Amanda I love this video! I’ve been telling myself this year is the year that I finally get over my fear, get comfortable with, and create video content. I started following you because I heard great things about your course and personality, then you introduced human design and opened me up to a whole new experience. 😂 I love that you’re so honest and tell it like it is. I’m a projector in human design and finding this whole video creation thing overwhelming and terrifying. Please keep sharing you’re amazing content! ❤

Here to fill in a gap on this video, because in contrast, I can offer well trodden experience-based advice on how to stagnate on the platform and in many other areas of existence 😆
-irregular uploads
-no personal schedule whatsoever
-habit-based ADD (heavy internet usage will do this) & regular distractions in close proximity
-live with other humans, share a wall with the kitchen
-find a way to focus on everything in your life all at once
-smoke pot and convince yourself it isn't part of the problem...
I'm sure there are another 5 to 10 entries but I'm in the process of getting distracted as we speak

I feel very similar feelings as you do about my channel right now - i’ve been talking about a single animation tool for years and I’m growing a bit tired of it. Although, I’ve seen nice growth from talking about related topics and expanding a little bit. But I’m also even earlier on my trajectory and I only have about a third of your subscribers. Very interesting to follow your next steps and journey forward 🎉

My growth has been painfully slow and very frustrating as nothing seems to really make sense with the YouTube algorithm.

I don't fit the regular crap that floods YouTube with get rich quick nonsense, but rather teach proper and responsible investing. I've noticed for my own experiences, that the scams and get rich quick crap see the go crazy in terms of views and popularity, while viable and valuable educational content gets completely ignored and I've seen this through several different responsible channels.

Thanks Amanda! I do believe that starting with the “copycat” method is the best way to get going. Some of my most viewed videos are based on at least titles of other successful videos. Content is different though.

I’ve also seen the How To videos get a lot of traction, solving a specific niche problem.

Keep fighting the good fight!

Thank you Amanda! I have been watching your videos on-and-off for over a year. Recently, I started creating my Step-by-Step Plan based on your content. With your help, I am ready to "Take on You Tube"

Let's feed the algorithm with the well ranking videos so that your channel grows and you can afford making videos about whatever you want:) it was another great year following you on your journey Amanda!

I had the same experience, starting very niche, getting a lot of subs. Then the growth slowed as I expanded my topics and followed more what I actually wanted to do vs. making topic for the same niche over and over. Now I do what I want but growth is much slower. However I am much more relaxed :-)

so interesting! i would have never known that but makes sense and so much good info for beginners like me. I'll probably niche down. Def a separate channel for motherhood. I like HD floating btw the two channels.

Thanks for sharing this! Happy to hear I’m not alone with these thoughts.
I know my tutorials “work” but I have a lot of passion for other types of videos as well. Maybe I’ll start another channel 😄

Thanks for this vid! I think you’re spot on!!

I also find that the YouTube algorithm wants you to niche. I make a variety of content (travel reviews, household tips, guy stuff) but only mens razor reviews do very well on my channel. I have 1100 subs but it has been Def think faster if you stick to narrow topic variety.

Been a sub here since you were at about 10k subs.

Great video thanks Amanda! I am on YouTube about the same amount of time with 12k subs. (Not this channel) I’ve been doing some range of videos so I’ve also confused the algorithm 😢 I’m gonna have to jump back to doing content around one idea, one target market - thanks for the wake up call! Much love! 💕

I found you through human design and would be so sad if you stopped creating videos like those. I'd actually love to see you creating more videos that mesh human design and video creation together.
I've shared your channel with my fellow spiritual entrepreneurs because of the human design element. (I don't have any videos on my channel because we share a collaborative channel, @ShayoliHope)
So if you want to niche more, I vote for the spiritual video creation route 😁. There are plenty of other masculine video creation YouTube channels it there, but I've never seen another feminine spiritual one like yours 🥰

Hey hey, love this video. I agree on the content confusion side of things. I think motherhood on the channel may alienate people and you’ll potentially lose subs.

It’s super cool that human design works but I know that when you kicked off with it there was resistance from your existing audience. Did you see a slow down or increase of subs/views then? Your bestie, Matthew

Great video Amanda and I agree, you need a different channel per topic or that’s what YouTube would like you to do!
