More elegant solution would be:
Right shaded area is (1/2) part of (1/2) whole area.
Left is 1/2 of 2/3 of 1/2.
Then the answer is (1/2)(1/2) + (1/2)(2/3)(1/2)=5/12 = 15/36

It's easy u don't even have to apply formula here just count the number of shaded part which covers more than or equal to 50% area of the square and count those many squares divided by total number of squares

Since there are 9 shaded blocks, and 11 partially shaded blocks, the answer should be LMAO.

i think it's quite obvious (at least for ppl who are good at math) that the right shaded area is 1/4 and the left shaded area is 1/6 of the square. so it's 3/12 + 2/12 = 5/12

Faster is, first sight you can see it has to be less tan 1/2, and it can’t be 1/3 because of proportions so it’s a 15/36 deduction in 4-5 seconds

Or you just subtract the bottom left 3x2 from the 6x6, then take half - making 15/36
