Night Sea Journey: Self and Sossi: A one minute taster.

In 2022/23 Composer ( Susannah )Self and Performance Artist (Marina) Sossi are collaborating to create a set of projects exploring 'The Night Sea Journey' that Carl Jung describes in his Red Book. This could be likened to St John of The Cross’s, The Dark Night of The Soul. However, a Night Sea Journey is altogether a more, gentle, and sensual affair of the heart, mind and soul. It is an invitation to deepen the practice of being oneself. Self and Sossi in collaboration with the Persian violinist and singer Saba Safa will explore ways of creating a syncretic fusion of notated music, soundscapes, physical theatre and movement framed within physical film installations as well as in nature. The works will emerge on different scales of delivery. Here Self presents a flavour of what is to come. She created these impromptu sketches while a stretcher in A and E using patient feedback forms to create a sense of the emerging elements for Night Sea Journey.
