Study Abroad Spotlight: Studying smart cities and sports culture in Spain

Layah Clinton ’25 and Sheidy Rios-Vazquez ’25 are taking aBurch Field Research Seminar through Honors Carolina in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain. The study abroad program focuses on smart and connected cities in Spain and smart technologies that connect sports teams.
Throughout the summer, the cohort has engaged with representatives from Futbol Club Barcelona, Girona Futbol Club, and Kognia Sports Intelligence, among others.
With funding through the Morehead-Cain, scholars have access to nearly 400 programs in more than 70 countries on every populated continent of the world.
