I fell in love incurably and forever when I saw Mitzi in South Pacific. She was my image of the perfect girl. Even late in life, she charmed me completely. I saw her about 25 years ago on PBS when she was taking part in a fund drive. She was asked by an adoring host, "How did you get such a great voice?" Mitzi's answer expressed her native goodness and modesty. After a significant and puzzled pause, Mitzi simply asked, "Singing lessons?" The only good thing about her passing is that Heaven is now a far richer place. And best of all, Mitzi's dancing again.

My favorite of favorite. I can watch South Pacific over and over and over. Sad Hollywood is what it is now. She was class, smarts, sexy, a true entertainer.
Thank you Mitzi, I'm gonna wash that man right out of my hair.

God bless this incredibly special performer! And than you for letting us know she had Hungarian roots. So did my Mom, who was a chorus girl during WWII. 🙂

She's so matter-of-fact, rather deadpan in her responses. Love it! It's like she's done everything, seen everything and everyone. A full life we should all be envious of. What a true talent and wonderful human being she was.

I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT! That was fun to watch and listen to. I was always a fan of Ms. Gaynor and I'm pleased she could still "wink" at her fans! Her life was a contribution to the human spirit of JOY! May she rest in peace knowing she made so many happy memories for millions of people.

3 days ago was reading a 1950s photoplay magazine and it had a great article about Mitzi, so i googled her and got so happy to know she was still alive and kicking, just to get the news of her passing 3 days later. Really sad. RIP Legend

I remember watching this interview and just glad she was still alive, and had a lot of lived experience to actively remember and wit that made her a star. I liked how honest she was about her stardom.
South Pacific might be the only film of hers I ever saw, but she made the film a touching one with her performance.
May she rest in peace. You did good, Mitzi.
