Me and my family (husband and kids) have been celebrating Michaelmas for years, we homeschool and love a lot of aspects of Waldorf education. We always change the festivals up to fit our family and religion more than original Waldorf education though. So when we celebrate Michaelmas we talk about the pre-existence and Satan being cast out (by Michael), read about it in the scriptures (Revelation 12:7-10), sing “I lived in Heaven”, and have a Michaelmas feast where we make bread shaped like a dragon along with other autumn-esque foods. Often we also read the folklore story about “George and the dragon” or something similar, as well as have pool-noodle sword fights where one of my sons will be the dragon and the other two will fight him and cast him out. We have also made other dragon crafts some years. To us it is a time to focus on who we are, where we came from, what negative things or sins we have that we need to “cast out” of our lives, and also a fun time in a house full of boys to have fun with dragons, knights and swords. We also love Autumn so we love incorporating autumn things as well, since it is only about a week after the autumn equinox.

I'm a little worried. I served my mission in Southern New Brunswick and Southern Nova Scotia 40 years ago. The Bay of Fundy has 28 foot tides. If it hits at high tide some of those little towns could get hit hard.

I became aware of these feast days by reading the Deryni novels by Katherine Kurtz. She references Michael, Gabriel, Rafael, and Uriel. She associates the follow elements with them: Michael- fire, Gabriel- water, Rafael- air, and Uriel- earth.

Mesa Arizona got hit with a microburst 2 days ago that caused extensive damage to the hangers and planes of Falcon Field Airport. Hanger doors and walls were blown over 100 feet away and many of the smaller planes were flipped completely over. The storm passed just north of us and the lightning was almost continuous for hours. So glad it didn’t hit us!

As far as jubilees are concerned, I don’t remember anymore where I originally heard it, but a few years ago (I think in 2020) I was watching a video by Bible scholars about jubilees and it was saying in the video that they think that our calendar and the original Jewish calendar are about three years off which would actually make the next jubilee year 2024. 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's pronounced "Mick-uhl-mass". Think how we pronounce "ChristMAS". A high holy day for The Church of England/the Episcopalian Church. Too, several major Christian Protestant churches (Methodist, Presbyterian-Church of Scotland) celebrate it. Insofar as i was aware growing up.
I was raised Presbyterian. Depending on the minister was what mattered about observing it & how in depth.
I first heard it called Michaelmas through Pride and Prejudice myself. LoL.
