How to Install Programs on Linux Via Terminal

Sudo apt-get install #1 command i ever type in the terminal :)

A bit lame since apt-get install "and whatever" only gives you in many cases an old version of something. A better approach is to manually download a file, e.g. a zip.file, extract it and run it from there. A video like that would make a lot more sense in my opinion.

Remember, all sorts of people would like 2 benefit. Most dont have English as their 1st language. Be articulate: speak clearly & normal pace. Newbies dont know much so give a lot of info, examples & what happens AFTER, with examples of a successful install and what 2 do after and a few tips of troubleshooting. apt-get update only refreshes the repos, apt-get upgrade and apt-get dist-upgrade will update the system. Apt-get and aptitude are package managers not repos.

i am using linux off a usb of 4 gb but it is insufficient to store a lot of programs so is there a way so that i can install the program in a different location say another usb flash drive
