I just updated to 4.2 LTS and I'm fuming over some of the changes, instead of adding to features they are removing or replacing them and renaming functions and things that adds more fuel to the fire. I have been using alpha clips very happily and simply and now I have to jump through freaking hoops and nodes to achieve something that was already existed in a form of checkbox. and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Hello Ryan. Could you please do a tut on volumes in 4.2. My volumes don't show in render preview and when i render (f12) it's just all black.

no doubt you're fed up with questions by now, but I've followed every tutorial I can find to the letter and it still seems to not work, and I'd be extremely appreciative if you could give me some guidance. Truthfully I'm not sure who else to ask!

after making view layers, trying to make new render layer nodes for them, and connecting them to the "composite" node to view them... the view layers I select in those render layer nodes don't seem to reflect what shows up in the composite. Whatever I have actively selected in the outliner does, instead.

for example, if I have one view layer with only a cube, and one view layer with only a sphere each in their own collection, name the view layers accordingly, and disable the opposite collection in each view layer... when I try to specify those layers with render nodes as you do here, connecting them or mixing them or anything like that will not work. The render layers only seem to show what's actively selected in that moment. I'll have the cube's view layer connected to the composite node... and it'll be showing the sphere's, when I've triple-checked that it's the correct one.

I've replicated this issue several times, so there must be some kind of missing link, so to speak. Have you encountered this before? If I'm not explaining it well enough, I can try to clarify- thank you tremendously in advance. This is a massive roadblock, so whatever I can do to help fix it I'll do. Thank you!!
