TESTED: Yamaha Tenere 700 World Raid

Just how different is Yamaha’s all-new Tenere 700 World Raid model relative to the ‘standard’ Tenere 700 it’s based on? How do those design and component changes translate when it comes to differences in real-world performance – for both road and off-road use? And can the World Raid’s $5500 price tag premium be justified? Or not?

To answer those regularly asked questions and more, we grabbed a couple of Tenere World Raid models and put them through their adventurous paces on a wide variety of terrain – and in the hands of a cross-section of test riders – for a month. Here’s what we took out of that enlightening experience...

They have released an in between model since in Europe, it is called the tenere 700 extreme . A basic tenere 700 with tft and the KYB suspension form the world raid. However i also think that the world raid does benefit from an amazing weight balance and fairly low centre of gravity and that still ameks it a good choice.

Can't wait until Yamaha sends these to the US. It checks so many boxes for what I am looking for.

15 mm more screen lmao ... I installed the aftermarket height adjustment on my 2021 Rally Edition - it takes the wind out of my face (I am 185cm) which is good but it's never really quiet.
The most comfortable setting is when the WINDSCREEN is COMPLETELY OFF

There is something in between called T7 Extreme Edition. Regards from Germany. But it's the World Raid for me.

It’s what the T7 should have been in the first place! Make a travel model with tubeless tires and cruise control (and bring it to the USA) and it could be the last bike I’d ever need! Well, maybe not the LAST bike…….🤣

I ride alone, and learned my standard T7 is about the absolute max I can pick up. Once on dry asphalt, hard lift but OK. Once on ice that I could barely stand and walk on, barely got it. Once with wheels up hill, on the right side, with berry vines stuck between the rear brake and came damn close to calling the wife to help but finally got it. Absolute max effort required just to get the bike rotated so the wheels were on the down hill side, and at the cost of bending up the rear brake pedal. So even a few more pounds is out for me.

Nice job fellas. Great insight on the reality of owning the new world raid Yammie. Sitting on the fence over the Aprilia 660, BMW 850 GS and Tenere 700.... still sitting on the fence ATM lol. 😭

Interesting comment near the end of the review about a Tenere 900. Perhaps Yamaha have something in the pipeline.. should put the CP3 inline triple as a option

I'm torn between this, the new BMW 900GS Adventure, the BMW 1250GS and uhmm...a cruiser street bob 114 from Harley xD, the Harley has nothing to do with these but idk, I like them all.

How can anyone justify the price on any bike in this price range, what a joke. You can buy cars for the same price, and they have a lot more to them as well.
