Israel Shipyard Offers 6 Saar Class S-80 OVPs To Philippine Navy

The S-80 is a development from the S-72 OPV, a vessel the Israel shipyard offered for the Horizon 2 OPV acquisition. It only has a displacement of 1000 tons, 80 meters in length, and 11 meters in beam, and uses four MTU diesel engines that can power this ship to its maximum speed of 28 knots and cruising speeds of 14 knots.

Though the ship was small, according to Israel Shipyard, this vessel had more firepower than HD Hyundais HDP-2200. The S-80 is armed with a standard 76mm Oto Melara Super Rapid Gun. According to Israel Shipyard, the amidships area weapons installation can be configured according to the needs of the end user navy.
