Two couples act on the beam as shown. If F = 150 lb,
determine the resultant couple moment.

Two couples act on the beam as shown. Determine
the magnitude of F so that the resultant couple moment is
300 lb ft counterclockwise. Where on the beam does the
resultant couple act?

Why is it 0.8F in the equation instead of -0.8F. In the diagram, F is negative for that corresponding force. It says "-F", not "F".

How did you get your signs for fx fy and 200

I don't understand how get-. 8f&. 6f

why do we subtract the 200 lb moment its doesn't make sense, unless u considering 150 moment as counterclockwise(+) and 200 as clockwise(-).

Why do the vertical components of F not cancel each other out?

i dont understand how to determine if its clockwise or counterclockwise. thank you/!1

I do not really understand why couple moments can act anywhere. Because wouldn't there be a distance bewteen the 2 forces which needs to be found in the part of the question asking where on the beam does the resultant couple act?

I don't understand why it is -200 (1.5) instead of +200(1.5)

If the resultant couple moment was 300 lb*ft CLOCKWISE would the magnitude of F be 0?

you had to find d ( couple moment=F*d )
d=sin *r
r=4 /given
