Watching live TV on a Roku or Roku TV is pretty easy, including local channels that you used to get on cable TV.

My daughter gave me a Roku stick a couple years ago. I’m unable to use it because it’s so complicated. I’m 82 years old and not into electronics! I barely can operate my cable Tv clicker. I wished your video showed more step by step on how to rather than cover all the shows and channels that’s available. Us old people need a step by step guide, Starting at which button to press first, then what to do next. The instruction booklet that come with the Roku stick was not helpful. Please help us old folks!

I use mainly Philo, but I also have FrndlyTV, that I use a lot, and it is very good for people who like retro tv. It's highest tier is $10.99, which included cloud dvr that keeps your recordings for 9 month. They have a tier with cloud dvr that retains them for 3 months. That combined with Philo and my indoor antenna gives me most of what I watch live.

I'm in the suburbs of New York city and I have an indoor antenna and we get 75 channels. I also have ' Pluto TV ' and ' Tubi TV ' which are free. I added Hulu with the one year trial for $1, 99 a month at the end of year its $6.99 . I added ' Disney +' with offer from Hulu for.$3.99 a month. Now if I only had enough time to watch every show I like I'd be in heaven. BTW with the antenna I get all mayor Networks and PBS. I stopped paying for cable 4 years ago ($138, 00 a month ) I have paid all my debts and have a savings for vacation. Best thing I ever did cut the cable.
Edited 20 May 2023 : As of this day I get 84 channels over the air.

Pluto TV is awesome!!! They have entire channels dedicated to Star Trek (where I just leave it!) and Doctor Who! I love PlutoTV! The "oldies"(aka my entire youth TV!😅) Is a FANTASTIC section! I love getting lost in all the sell offerings and selections!

Good info. However by the time you pay for multiple streaming channels to get all the different programing you want the cost is just as much as cable or satellite. Each streaming service is increasing in price and almost all require a monthly fee that quickly add up to hundreds of dollars a year. Not really a savings.

Your intentions are well meant, but, I just cut the cord to "pay" cable tv, why would I start all over by paying for channels? Isn't this the whole reason why to cancel cable tv? To cut the monthly premiums? OTA = over the air. Never-the-less, thank you for taking the time to at least make people aware of options using a ROKU tv.

Hello,
Thank you for this video.
I’m of the Boomer generation. Lol
I did t grow up with electronics as it is today.
I have a TCL ROKU TV. Without warning or any indication my TV will not operate with my ROKU stick. I’ve changed new batteries twice, and used another new stick. Could there be something wrong with my TV? Do I need to do a reset on it? It came with many apps already installed on it. Can you please do a video on how to install apps and connect the ROKU stick back to the TV. Thanks for your time. I greatly appreciate your teaching abilities.

Pluto TV is great if you just want the TV on and don't really care what you are watching. There is no way to plan ahead to watch your favorite episodes, or episodes you have not seen before.

I got an LG WebOS smart TV. It has LG channels built into it. It has probably 300 channels at least on it. You have to have internet in order to watch them unfortunately. I have Pluto TV, XUMO, PLEX, and Distro TV apps installed as well as a TV antenna. All together I say I'm shooting at at least 550 channels all together that I'm getting. I could install Peacock and the Xfinity TV stream app but those require a subscription service to receive them because Peacock here is only available through Comcast cable ( other places it is not). Off the antenna I receive 23 channels. I got quite a variety of channels. Music, sports, movies, shopping and more. I even get premium movie channels. Showtime, HBO, Cinemax and Starz. Coming soon they're adding Epix to LG channels. So another movie channel being added.
