Thanks for sharing your experience with your peach tree. I recently purchased two standard peach trees on clearance last year from Wal-Mart. LOL! This is my third year with trying to grow fruit trees, and all of them have been dwarfs so far. None of my original seven dwarfs have even put out, except for my lone citrus plant. Two died. Two caught fire blight. My apple tree is rusted and didn't even bloom this year. But wouldn't you know it? I transplanted the two STANDARD sized peach trees in Spring into good-sized tree containers from their original store pots and they both put out loads of blooms this year! 50 on one tree and 30 on the other. They are way too small to support such a large amount of fruit anyways, so nature and woodland creatures helped thin them out naturally, until I had about 25 on one and 15 on the other. Looks like I get 18 in the end....though six are still out there on the trees ripening...so the jury is still out on them. Looks like nurseries are capitalizing on those who will not experiment! I'm switching to buying standard trees, and of course I'll grow from cuttings as I can. You proved it too....you just chopped off the top and planted it! Love it, man! Great going!
