In the Avatar comics, Team Avatar finally arrive at the fire nation village of hira’a to find Zuko and Azula’s mom
Before going in Zuko reminds them to put on disguises to avoid any unwanted attention and Aang claims they are masters of disguise after running from Zuko for all those years as they switch into fire nation attire
Sokka even makes a beard made of Appa’s fur but Azula fails to see his ingenuity
They notice a large gathering of people in the town and go to investigate the cause
Zuko recognizes the play they are performing as Love Amongst Dragons and in the play we see the dragon emperor battle it out against the evil water spirit
Zuko reminisces on his childhood when his mother used to take him and Azula to watch this play and Zuko and Azula would recreate this same scene on the beach, but Azula always ended up being the dragon emperor
A member in the crowd tells Azula to quiet down which triggers her before the ending of the play is shown with the dragon emperor kissing his empress
The crowd starts to dissipate but Zuko manages to ask some strangers if they know a woman named Ursa who lived in Hira’a years ago but before they could respond, they are interrupted by a man wearing the blue spirit mask

The world is divided into four nations -- the Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation and the Air Nomads -- each represented by a natural element for which the nation is named. Benders have the ability to control and manipulate the element from their nation. Only the Avatar is the master of all four elements. The ruthless Fire Nation wants to conquer the world but the only bender who has enough power, the Avatar, has disappeared ... until now. His tribe soon discovers that Aang is the long-lost Avatar. Now Katara and Sokka must safeguard Aang on his journey to master all four elements and save the world from the Fire Nation.

I really wish this was explored much more in canon, it shows that Azula and Zuko could have really get along if the circumstances were different.

It also implies that Zuko and Azula used to play roles constantly among each other & with their mother, which shows that she spent quality time with both of them. Also, it gives one more layer to Zuko's and Azula's impressions along the original show. ❤

I choose to believe Sokka made the Beard out of Appa's fur because the Fire Nation Army believed Wang Fire died at one point and he wanted to carry on the ruse.
