Great video and review. I love my Spool Tools. I have six of them and keep at least one in each of my bags. It's one of the best tools for the money IMHO. It helps keep everything nice and neat in my packs. Thanks for sharing.

I have a couple of those.
At the time I did not realize the notches were for fusing the ends.
Just thought they were for holding the end.

Nice tip on using the spooltool notch to create a great usable end on your cut Paracord. I usually do what most ppl do and just light it, then tap and shape in with my fingers. Nice thinking out of the box. SUBBED 😉

It'd be really nice if it had a couple of Fids that you could take on the tool and heat your cord, stick it inside the tool (Think your wifes crochet hooks, 2" off the end) and then you can get into some of the really tight knots corders work on..


Personally, I have a lanyard made with paracord and tied in ladder line knots, then I take carabiners and put the tools along the lanyard. I use EMT shears for cutting cord, made a lighter case with a ring on it that will go on my lantard, the afore mentioned Crochet hooks and several other tools I use on projects.


The paracord hobby has pretty much disolved. I set up at a craft fair with about 50 spools of cord in pretty much every color available, had a stand I made from PVC to hang over 100 bracelets, all my tools, paid $15 for the table space and sold TWO bracelets that I made right there on the spot. Yeah, $10.00 paid so I could lost $20.. I don't know how many people walked by, saw what I was doing and said something along the lines "Oh, that's a good idea, Little Johnny has cord and can make them for us".. Never set up a table again. I usually make a bunch of dog leashes and donate them to animal shelters so the dog can go home with his own leash..

Best way to store 100' of paracord neat and compactly. And keeps your lighter from being outta gas!!

My experience with the tool was not so good. The tool is kind of heavy and I found it difficult to hold and manipulate. I found it impossible to keep the cord from twisting on the tool and ended up turning the tool, not winding the cord.
It does hold the cord nicely, the blade is a nice feature, and plenty of places to park the ends.

Definitely not for quick storage or deployment and I won't be getting another. A large plastic bottle with a hole in the lid will work better for my needs. And cost: FREE
