I’m with you, Jason. An all mode or even SSB capability in a VHF/UHF only transceiver would be great!

Thanks Jason for the info on the FT-500DE. I heard it here first! I'm a big Fusion fan and host the Wires-X repeater for Aspen Colorado and a couple of YSF rooms for our club, (RFARC, 37398). I like it's looks and agree, the head is just disconnected to show it's detachable. Keep up the great work with your videos. I always enjoy them and find them very informative. 73's de KD0NU.

This Amateur Radio life style is getting way too expensive for my wallet.

The Japanese Yaesu press release (check out Hamlife) indicates that it is a true dual receiver and does "C4FM Digital/Analog FM" only. The screen tilts via an optional joint mount kit (SJMK-500) -- though it is vague if the tilt kit can go on the body. It's basically a FTM-400 with the smaller display of the FTM-200 (the screen is why the FTM-400 was discontinued).

Ok, According to Jason it will be allmode, HF. It comes with a TV monitor, and it has a bezel screen. Also its 200 watts. Got it Thanks for the info Jason.

Having been throwing floods, hurricanes and ice storms in the Houston Harris County area has me agreeing the base things needed:

V/UHF:
35 to 50w FM.
Port for Winlink.

SSB Nice, but not deal killer.

HF:
50 to 100W SSB
CW nice
Port for Winlink
QPP with brick substitute. QRP sips power when mains are out

On board tuner, nice .

Best as I can tell, the big knob is for frequency changes and maybe even menu item value changes. Whatta ya bet?

Have you and John Kruk done any FTM-500 videos on what new features it has?

How about an AM, FM, CW, SSB, and a port for Winlink for 2m?

Apparently it's a touch screen and just under the screen is a front firing speaker, there is a you tuber in the UK who has the info on it .

It would have been nice if it was a tri-bander to include 1.25 meters.

The BIG knob will work the multi functions of the radio. Hit VFO, and rotate the dial. Hit Menu, and rotate the dial etc.📡

To add side band along side FM on that body size would be tough and need serious cooling fans. Would be awesome though.

SSB Yes be fun :) Aess speaker in the head unit sounds good with touch screen .

HRO is taking reservations at $35. The speculative pricing I've seen from a German retailer equates to $600 US.

If it comes in all mode I’m buying one.

What parts would be in the FTM 400 not readily available anymore while building a new radio that doesn't need those same electronic radio parts?

Let’s see if Yaesu added memory banks, and the rollover of memory channels.

Needs to be a quad band to replace the ft8900R I have.
