I'll take the ILX over the Civic for the engine and transmission combo.

2.4 engine vs a 1.5 with a turbo. It's a no brainer to go with the Acura. And has more HP than the Civic SI

What they should do is use the accords 2l turbo and trans in the next model

The biggest problem with the ILX is the fact it is based on the last-generation Civic which wasn't a particularly good car. The current Civic especially in Touring trim is almost as luxurious as the ILX but much cheaper & the new 1.5T despite being matched to CVT is just as quick as the ILX and gets better MPG. Worse of all, the Honda just feels more modern than the two-screen chaos in the Acura.

Trades

The ILX with the 2.4 and 8 DCT runs a 6.2-6.6 0-60mph time. The Civic Si with the 1.5T and 6MT runs 6.8 to 60mph at best. The 2.4 is more reliable and so is the 8 speed DCT. I just picked up a 2022 ILX Premium Aspec for $28k. MSRP sticker was $34, 345. With the incentives Acura has for the ILX right now in order to make room for the new Integra, it’s a great buy. Who cares if it’s based on the last gen Civic. Only car enthusiasts may know that and plus, the ILX still drives great. The Civic is also not cheaper. Try and find a new 2022 Civic Touring for under $28k at any Honda lot in the US….not gonna happen.

What is the more reliable transmission - the Civic CVT or the ILX 8-DCT?

The ILX will likely be more durable than a Civic, but it is not "luxury". It competes with the Mazda 3, not BMW/Audi/Mercedes. It is a cool car, but dated.
