The perfect investment is something you can pay nothing for right now, pays you money on a regular basis while you own it, needs no additional attention once you buy it, there will always be demand for it on the consumer side and not enough competition on the investor side keeping it affordable, has tax advantages to owning it, and has appreciated in value while you own it so you can eventually sell it for more than you bought it for.

This is why most of the wealthiest individuals own some kind of real estate because it's the closest thing to the perfect investment. Real estate isn't perfect, but it shares a lot of what would make a perfect investment what it is.
