"A History Channel Thanksgiving" S15

About South Park: South Park is the Emmy and Peabody-award winning animated series co-created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone about four boys living in one screwed-up Colorado mountain town. Between local and global tragedies, as well as parental and celebrity interference, Kyle, Stan, Cartman, and Kenny manage to have themselves a time.

TITLE - An Animated full screen logo that is a parody of
the History Channel logo.
VOICE (O.S.)
You're watching the History Channel.
Where the truth, is HISTORY.
Now different images of Thanksgiving start to fly through
frame. It's a typical History Channel documentary.
DIFFERENT VOICE (O.S.)
A lot has been written about the
first Thanksgiving between Pilgrims
and Native Americans. But what
REALLY happened at that first
historic dinner?
INT. CARTMAN'S HOUSE - DAY
The four boys are sitting on the couch watching this on TV.
Cartman is eating from a bag of Cheesy Poofs.
CARTMAN
Dude, see? I TOLD you. Who needs
to read a bunch of stupid BOOKS when
we've got History Channel?
BACK TO THE TELEVISION-
More images that we license - art and re-enactment photos
of the first Thanksgiving.
DIFFERENT VOICE
We know the first Thanksgiving was
in the fall of 1621, but new
evidence suggests that that first
exchanging of foods between Pilgrims
and Native American... MAY HAVE BEEN
VISITED BY ALIENS!
A CREEPY ALIEN SOUND, and some flash frames of aliens.
PROFESSOR
In every journal entry we research
from those early Pilgrims, not ONE
entry mentions anything about aliens
NOT being there.
DIFFERENT VOICE
And what about the FOOD? Does the
appearance of stuffing at the first
Thanksgiving table suggest a kind of
alien technology?
INT. CARTMAN'S HOUSE - DAY
The boys watching on the couch.
CARTMAN
Ooooo-OOH!
KYLE
What...? This isn't HISTORY!
STAN
Dude, it is called History Channel.
KENNY
Yeah!
ON THE SCREEN - A Professor is sitting down in his office
being interviewed.
PROFESSOR
And if we look in ALL the journals
and ALL the history books, there is
no reference to 'stuffing' before
1621. So, where did it come from?
Did it come from space? We just
don't know.
Now back to more images-
NARRATOR
Did Ancient Aliens shape the first
Thanksgiving?
A photo of Cape Cod from Space-
NARRATOR
Is it mere coincidence that Cape
Cod, when viewed from SPACE, looks
like an alien life form?
The image overlays of an alien with a big dick.
Video - Black and white of Pilgrims on a beach with glowing
lights in the background.
NARRATOR
What exactly did the Pilgrims
experience? How exactly did those
beings from another world shape the
dinner we celebrate every November?
Then the picture of the turkey with the UFO.
INT. CARTMAN'S HOUSE - DAY
KYLE
What?
CARTMAN
Kyle why are you being so grumpy?
Are you on your period again?
KYLE
We are NOT basing research for our
report on this CRAP!
CARTMAN
Okay, let's take a vote.
(raising his hand)
Who thinks the possibility of
ancient aliens at Thanksgiving makes
for an interesting history report?
Stan and Kenny look at each other.
Kenny raises his hand. Then Stan does too.
KYLE
Dude!
CARTMAN
Okay, and who wants to take a little
Pamprin so their menstrual cramps
stop bringing everyone down?
Cartman starts to raise Kyle's arm for him.
CARTMAN
...Kyle.
KYLE
Alright fine. Let's just get this
stupid report over with.

I love that.

In that universe I wouldn't doubt it. Their entire existence is a tv show for aliens

As someone who used to watch Ancient Aliens religiously more than 10 years ago when I was a teenager in high School this is so accurate LOL.

I know this may be satire and heavily exaggerated at times, but they hit the nail on the head.

The fact that this actually looks like something ancient aliens would make just makes it a whole lot better

Fun fact, while I was student teaching, a student of mine asked if he could use ancient aliens as a source. My response was “Sure you can.... if you want to fail.”

I like the double meaning of the History channel slogan "The Truth is History." Clearly Trey and Matt really wanted to do a good spoof on the whole channel at that point.

As a fan of Ancient Aliens from Plymouth, MA, seeing this episode on TV for the first time was probably one of the high points of my life.
