Composer D. S. Bortnyansky (1751-1825)
Chamber choir "Kyiv", choirmaster Mykola Gobdych

Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.
Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips. Incline not my heart to any evil thing, to practice wicked works with men that work iniquity: and let me not eat of their dainties (Psalm 141).

Бортнянский - Да исправится молитва моя (Пс. 140)

Bortnyansky was a master especially of the wide harmony (shirokaya garmon) and a balanced chorus. Problem with his work is that it was written during an era when huge, musically educated church choirs in Russia (and Europe) were the norm. Since the Russian Revolution these choirs became all but nonexistent. Emigre communities struggled to assemble choirs capable of tackling Bortnyansky in their repertoire, but most failed due to scarcity of singing and conducting talent. Lucky for the Russian Orthodoxy today the former status quo of readily available large choirs seems to have been resurrected in Russia. Bravo!

It's Ok Vitaliy- the cuts show themselves in the patches of score, & the vocal ranges Male & female are also self evident ..!
Great job, many thanks, Wonderful piece.

@JJHFram
There are two versions of the score - for mixed choir and women's choir, and in the performance both are used - I had to combine pieces of the score accordingly, but I don't remember the source I took the scores from :(

На каком языке поют? Похоже на суржик. А надо бы на церковно-словянском! Существуют каноны, но об этом неверующим неизвестно.
