While engine is running/idling, pull each spark plug wire off existing spark plug, one at a time. Soon as you notice no differential within engine idle, and-or engine running in general smoothly. You just located correct cylinder that's creating mis-fire. If you pull a spark plug wire off the spark plug, you notice the engine stumble, run rough, that designated/particular cylinder is functioning correctly for most part. Also if you touch your spark plug wires when engine is running, feel a shock, the wires are definitely in need replacement. Very highly probable, one or more spark plug wires are arching between each other, cylinder or cylinders not receiving full spark capability. Sometimes can see this arching, if it's dark enough within engine compartment. Spark plug gaping is also very important, spark jumping around the electrode within the spark plug itself, weak spark when piston reached tdc/top dead center. Piston reaching top within cylinder, spark timed to ignite fuel at this point.

When I try to replace the spark plug on my civic 2009 P0302, I found oil all over the engine and the coil pack. I knew that I needed a new gasket cover but didn’t do it on time…now how can I temporarily clean the oil?

My car is showing P0304 and has a rough idle just like in this video but when driving has no issues (maybe some power loss, haven't pushed it) and I've never had a check engine light pop up. So far i've changed the coil packs, spark plugs, injectors, valve seals and nothing has worked. My next step is to check the compression once I get a tester. Any idea what the problem might be? And if the compression is low in cylinder 4 what exactly could be the issue/fix?

Hey so I recently had my evap canister replaced and a week later I’m having cylinder 3 misfire issues. I changed my spark plugs, coils, did a check on the relays and they’re all making power. It’s a 2016 Honda civic, is this something you’ve ever encountered?

Would this process also work for a 2007 Hybrid Civic? Having flashing check engine light and some vibrations/stalling issues. Did have some of the coils/plugs changed by a mechanic a few months ago. If process is the same figured I’d take by auto parts store to get a code read on it.

Idk if you still respond to these but I’m having the issue where my 2001 civic ex will start good then as I drive it, it starts getting tougher and rougher till it eventually sputters out. I have codes: P0336 P1362 P0301 P0302 P0303 and P0300 any advice?

I got a 02' Civic LX (non-vtec)
Recently got the Head Gasket replace and the Head Resurfaced. Mechanic claimed he changed the spark plugs also.

Then after that i had a misfire in cyl 4. (P0304),
Took it to my mechanic again and he replaced the coil, but he didnt replace the other 3. (Have no ideas why he did that)

2 weeks later i got the same p0304 misfire code.

Should i have the fuel injectors checked this time?

The car is at 196k miles.

Brother I'm having a awful time trying to figure this out. I hooked up a obd2 reader because our truck "only vehicle" isn't running very well. I received codes po300 all the way thru po306 "all cylinders" misfire.
Last month i replaced all six plugs and all six ignition coils. I also codes po404 po420 and po430
Some codes was on there twice even. The truck ran great before and now it'll run but we are afraid to drive it. My father inlaw thinks it's a clogged catalytic converter. The truck is a 2008 Honda Ridgeline What do you think?
Amy help is greatly appreciated, God bless...
Me, I'm not a mechanic i just figure out what's wrong then i fix it. I'm lost on this...

One of mechanic did the spark plug swap and found the code still on. Then he told it might be the valve and he wanted to adjust the valves. But then I showed to another mechanic and he observes that my gasket is loose and there is oil leak also he said oil leak is causing that. Now I am confused whom to believe. What do you think. Thank you

I have a 2006 civic, it’s saying cylinder 2 misfire, we replace the coil, still having problems. We’re gonna do plugs next, but when I get to like 60mph and then have to slow down and then give it gas again it starts jerking a little, and then on any sort of hill, big or small sometimes it will lose power and check engine light starts flashing, but I can pull over turn the car off and back on CEL will go off and it does fine for a few miles… I’m so confused on what it could be!

So I have code P0301 2008 SI
I did the coil test so my bad one, cylinder 1. I swapped it with cylinder 3. It still reads that cylinder 1 is misfiring even though I swapped it so it can’t be coils.
I put brand new spark plugs I don’t think that is it either.
Could it by my fuel injector?
When I remove the coil from cylinder 1 it makes no difference. No matter which coil.
Same thing with injectors. ANY idea?
