Dead Space is a science fiction/horror media franchise created by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, developed by Visceral Games, and published and owned by Electronic Arts. The franchise's chronology is not presented in a linear format; each installment in the Dead Space franchise is a continuation or addition to a continuing storyline, with sections of the storyline presented in prequels or sequels, sometimes presented in other media from the originating video game series, which includes two films and several comic books and novels.
Primarily set in a 26th century science fiction universe featuring environments, weapons, and characters typical of the genre, the Dead Space franchise centers on a series of video games beginning with the release of the first Dead Space, which follows an engineer named Isaac Clarke and the mutated undead horrors that surround him. A central theme in the games is the fictional cult religion Unitology and its fanatical followers, who believe that information about an alien artifact called the Marker is being suppressed by the Earth's government. Their primary goal is to use this Marker to bring about the so-called "convergence" or "unification", with the Markers being the source of the undead monsters encountered by the series' protagonists.
The Dead Space video game series has been positively received; the first game in particular won a number of industry awards for the varied elements of its gameplay and development, and is often regarded as one of the best video games of all time by critics. From a commercial perspective, EA considered the video game series as a whole to have underperformed. After the financial disappointment of 2013's Dead Space 3, no further media for the franchise was made for the remainder of the 2010s. A remake of the first game is currently in development by Motive Studio and set for release in 2023.

Isaac looks more exhausted in the original, the shadows on his beaten face work so well compared to the remake. Plus Nicole’s jumpscare seems too slow.

The Nicole in the original is infinitely more terrifying

The fact that the original holds up is still amazing for its time and the amount of people who worked on it

Nicole in the remake just looks like a girlfriend scaring her boyfriend as a joke

The Issac in the original ending was more fitting imo. The way he takes a moment to slump into his chair, has to cover his face and just look ahead expresses how exhausted, shocked and grief stricken he is was realistic and well done. Remake Issac looks tired yeah, but less shocked and more relieved that he got through the whole ordeal. I won't bother talking about the jumpscare, because we all know which one was better in terms of scare factor.

I think what makes the remake one kinda lame is that we can see her move, and it looks somewhat natural. In the original, you can barely see her and then she teleports straight to your face (also I dont think her reaching over to Issacs space works well)

All the gamers love the original unperfect Isaac's face

I’m surprised they didn’t give Issac any white hair and wrinkles due to the stress and trauma he went through in the remake and losing his girlfriend

Idk why they panned the camera on Nicole, only to do the jumpscare 4 seconds later.

The ending for the remake is lame compared to the original. The Nicole's movements and screeching in the original was so inhuman and unnatural which added more to the creepiness factor, whereas the remake version makes it look like Isaac just got pranked.

The original ending is wayyy better than Remake ngl. Isaac's face kinda scared/terrified and the Nicole's jumpscare is unexpected and we barely see her where she is, her position i mean

The original made you absolutely crap yourself with how unexpected, quick, loud, and creepy it was. The remake made it look more like she was trying to give him a hug, or was reaching over him to grab the tv remote or something like that. Generally this remake is absolutely amazing, but this was a bit of a downgrade from the original ending. I do like the alternate ending though, that was a good idea and was genuinely very off-putting, so fair play to them for that.

I like all the marker symbol filter appear as she screams in the original. The remake just seems like a bitter girlfriend just giving out.

This definitely is probably one of my only few let downs about the remake. But my major one is in the original there is clear wear and tear from Isaac's experience. In the remake he looks just as fine as when he arrived and none of the experience is reflected on him except for his expression.

Original is better than remake, when isaac feel something beside him, went straight to jumpscare with the effect. Remake the other hand, delay for 5 second then jumpscare without effect. But nicole jumpscare position in remake is more make sense than crouching

No doubt that this is a very well made remake. But in many instances, the original had better moments.
Like the final scare. In the remake the camera was too slowly turning and you could already see and prepare for her. In the original it was much more intense and quick and shocking.
Also the escape from the surface scene. Yes visually the remake looks more sharp and modern. But the the decision with the new camera angles made it feel less intense. Also while Isaak was sitting in the cockpit. It gave a way better feeling of the emptyness of space than the remake with it''s close up shot the "camera" following the movement of his head. Dunno why they had to change these.

I will always prefer the original version of this ending over the remake version, especially since the jump scare in the original haunted me for days. Also, I don't like how Isaac looks in the remake.

I love the graphics in the remake, however the original was far scarier.

In the original, Isaac looks more tired, and more suprised with Nicole "being" there
