My father used to make cabbage soup from his massive garden every year. It was soo good I wish he would have given me the recipe before he suddenly passed away. I miss you dad especially with this being the first holiday season without him.

My adoptive mother was Polish and my adoptive father was Russian and everything my mother cooked and baked was homemade from scratch, we had borscht, schav and cabbage soup in our fridge like you have milk in yours- all the time! Also stuffed cabbage, chopped liver, and a million other things she used to make. They're both gone now almost 26 years and I miss her cooking and both of them terribly 😢😢😢

Growing up my mom used to make fried cabbage. I hated the smell and the taste. It wasn't until I was about 51 and moved to Georgia from Pittsburgh that I tasted cabbage soup. I fell in love with it instantly.

I grew up with a grandma that was as poor as you could get. She never wasted anything. That “cabbage stalk” that you don’t want is actually DELICIOUS raw with salt. It was a childhood treat for me. Don’t throw it away.

My dad cut cabbage just like that when he would cook, except he always wanted that stem piece he called it a cabbage heart and would eat it raw, he always liked to put it in the fridge to chill before eating it. It’s Pretty good

I add a few white potatoes to mine, and if I'm feeling uppity, I add some shrimps, you have a wonderful delicious one 1⃣ pot meal👍🏼😋
