Digimon: The Movie is not a great movie. But have you ever asked why? The reason, no matter how dumb you think it might be, is even dumber.

So everyone's entitled to their opinions, but personally Our War Game is the single greatest piece of Digimon media imo. It's the crowning jewel of Matt and Tai's character development throughout the anime.

When you see videos like these, it's hard not to get why some fans immediately look down on people who enjoy localized dubs. Sure, it's fine to like them more, and I certainly have some I prefer, but dismissing the original version on the grounds of what amounts to "no cool music + no funny = bad", is just sad to see. It's a disservice to the original writers and directors as well as the English script writers, who tried their best to keep as much nuance from the original version as they possibly could during that time, particularly in the TV series, in their adaptation.

The Digimon Adventure 02 movie with the long name is easily my favorite Digimon movie! The entire vibe of the movie is made to be weird and uncanny, which I LOVE! The dub on the other hand, is one of the worst anime dubs I've ever seen (and I saw the dub first)

Its kinda amusing to see the Eng Dub fans go *"Why isn't the badass cool fight music playing!? Why isn't the dialogue FUNNY!??"* My reaction to watching the Dub was the opposite, why are kids dropping quips in life&death situations like deadpool? Why isn't the melancholic music playing? The somber music is what makes Digimon super nostalgic to me, otherwise its just a show about kids fighting generic bad guys.

What brings me back to this franchise is the bizzare, artsy aspects of it. Like, have you guys noticed how the digital world is a collection of water paintings?

The one thing about part 3 was they dubbed it real quick after it came out in Japan which was unheard of at the time so props for that....usually we had to wait years for dubs...not three months....it was unique for that and I appreciate it...02 was still airing new weekly eps in Japan when this film came out west so most of us didn't even know about the new kids or older Takeru and Hikari or what armored digivolving was...

I just noticed: If you think people only like Our War Game because they like Summer Wars, but you also think Summer Wars is just as bad, then why do you think people like Summer Wars? Maybe people enjoy these movies for reasons other than "monsters are cool"? Especially if they enjoy a version without the monsters even more.

idk if its just nostalgia talking but i fucking love the art and animation in the first part of digimon the movie theres something special about that melancholy that really fits for me

I do not comprehend how anyone can legitimately say Pokémon the movie is better than Digimon the movie. And that it holds up today, 🤦🏻‍♂️ Digimon the movie is a masterpiece.

I'm more surprised this video has this many likes than I am about War Game having a 7 on MAL. Abstract is a valid style even if it doesn't say anything. It's nice to have something serious and surreal for kids, as that combination is usually associated with adult media. Stop pretending "I didn't enjoy it" is some profound critique or means that no one else can get something you didn't out of it.
It seems like you just don't like Japanese Digimon that much, nothing else to it.
