The Dean’s office is excited to introduce our speaker series on Climate, Complexity, and Decolonization. Thanks to funding from the Gaines and Shaw Educational endowment and the Musagetes Foundation, we have been able to bring together a diverse lineup of speakers to the Faculty of Education at UVic.

Teaching about modernity, colonization and climate crises in the Pacific is a daunting task steeped in historical trauma and present-day struggles. In this session, attendee's consider how to confront uncomfortable truths in the classroom, striking a balance between acknowledging collective trauama and avoiding a patronizing saviour mentality.
