I know this was probably not your intention but what irks me about the Dreams hype is that people ignore all the much more capable and in some cases more accessible apps like Callipeg and Toonsquid that have been around for a while and are great. Dreams doesn‘t even have a selection tool neither a very frame by frame friendly timeline, quality of life features like shift and trace, etc etc. Sure, it will probably get some of those things eventually but without the Procreate name and the flashy faux Apple marketing campaign they drove, i don‘t think it would‘ve made such a splash at all. I‘m not saying don‘t use or don‘t like the app but it‘s not like it‘s the salvation for independent animators of the 21st century as it was hailed. It‘s an open beta of an app that is more catered towards motion graphics than character animation. And unfortunately, the hype overshadows a lot of its competitors by smaller, just as dedicated developers.

FlipaClip announced that they’re getting a new update this year. After the new update comes out, I think that would be a perfect time to compare it to procreate dreams.

So I love Procreate! I’ve already made a bunch of different scene pictures where I’ve slid into a character or 2!!! And I heard about dream around the same time that I originally got the original. But I definitely didn’t feel ready for taking it to that level yet…… but now I think I’m ready to at least try! But I have some questions that I feel like you didn’t cover here!?! Or if you did, it’s was a very short blurb about it and I missed it?!? But how long can you make these clips? Are they like 5 to 10 minutes max or if I have the time, patience and ability could I make a full length movie? And also what about audio?!? I didn’t hear anything about that and (in my opinion) what’s the point of making a full animation if it has no sound!?! I have a few more….. but I’ll leave it here for now! Those are on the top of my priority list!
