I totally agree! I have been having so many issues growing green beans and many other things here in east Georgia, zone 8a. Then I realized that I had been following the advice of gardeners from the North. Now I look for southern gardeners such as yourselves. Thank you both!

There's just something about those jars coming out of the canner...beautiful! Thank you for sharing.

I love the sound of snapping beans! Reminds me of sitting on my Grandma's lap and learning how to do that. And picking blackberries! :)

I remember my grandmother giving us (6 of her grandkids) big bowls of green beans to snap. We would sit out there and have fun just snapping beans. Eating them was much better, especially knowing you helped. Miss ya grandmommy!

My mother always snaped both ends, but I looked at both ends one day when I was snapping and realized I was wasting partcofcthe bean and also to save time, I only snap off the stem end. I love the canning lesson.

Several years ago we quit square foot type gardening, we quit back to eden gardening and other than berry bushes and okra, we do raised bed and a lot of container gardening. We also keep lots of seeds set back and we buy Amish to put up foods we don't want to try and grow. Just works for us...who are in our 70's.

Danny, I decided year before last that I would never plant bush green beans again. Last year I planted on cattle panels and it worked well. Still blue lake, but pole beans. This year I expanded that. Some on the arch and some in long, wide rows with T-posts and string. So far so good. The main reason I did this is I am 67 and standing on my head to pick is getting less and less fun ☺. I agree, this is August weather. Makes me worry about what August will be like.

we take those cow panels like you have and make a tunnel to grow our beans on, they grow inside under shade and outside. we have a 90 foot tunnel and a 75 footer. the beans hang down inside and you walk upright through a nice cool tunnel and harvest them quick and easy, . one t-post in the middle on each side about 5 -6 feet apart depending on how high you want your tunnel. we grow all kinds of vining things on our tunnels. It works great.

Remember well sitting on the screened porch in Ga with my Mom and Nannie snapping beans, shelling butter beans and purple haul peas. Husking corn and cutting up okra. Lunch was all fresh veggies, cornbread, fried green tomatoes, fresh fruit and iced tea! What I would give to spend the time with the ones I miss again. Nannie called lunch “dinner” and was the big meal. Supper was mainly left overs from lunch, but you never heard us complain. Humidity so thick you could cut it. Thanks for the blessing of your video!

I think the weakened magnetosphere and GSM are seriously changing things. Remember to save seeds from these plants, even if the plants don't appear to be doing so well, this change will be imprinted in their genetics making them better prepared for next year as we move deeper into the GSM.

We plant ours on double rows with drip in the middle, but give plenty of space between subsequent double rows. We like to be able to sit on a bucket and scoot down the row to pick them. Hopefully the rattlesnake beans will do better than the blue lakes. Our rattlesnakes are producing like crazy now.

I like how you show from harvest to canning.

This is why I love your channel. Many of the gardening videos that I watch take place up north or out west and being from south Mississippi much of what they do does not apply to me. You are one of the few Deep South gardeners. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences...both good and bad.

Danny, here in Louisiana. I have the same issue. That's why I start planting a fall crop of beans and they make better as temp start cooling off.

I think you make a good point that folks should pay attention to - not every method works every where for every one 😉 Sorry for your loss of produce

Can't you pull up 2 rows? That will give you air. You may get more yield.

Sometimes conventional farming/gardening is conventional for a reason. You can never go wrong being thankfull for what you got though.

Yes, this heat is unusual for May. Having to water like never before and it is taking a toll on us. Learning new ways and pacing ourselves. Trusting God one day at a time! Love and prayers for y'all

I used our bedder because it was a wet spring. But now I can’t get the tractor in the garden now, old timers around here tell me the weeds have never been this bad this time of year in South Georgia.

I know that I have complained about our crazy weather here and how everything is late getting into the ground. I am thankful that my medium growing season (while not as long as I would like) is a plentiful one. I pray your season is a good one, and your other crops are plentiful.
