This is an old recording of him. There is a whole series of these with Colter. He has since grown into his voice and developed quite a bit as a performer. My favorite song of his is “13 silver dollars” but most would direct you to “Kate McCannon”. His songs “Nuthin” and “Me and Big Dave” are also ones that touched me.

He was about 20 or 21 when he did these sessions and his voice has matured GREATLY in the years since. He's said in an interview he's actually quite embarrassed how much he is forcing his voice down here. I still enjoy these sessions a lot since its how I was introduced to him. To hear a refined Colter, I would HIGHLY recommend watching his cover of a song called Cowpoke from the Western AF YouTube channel.
