"Sen. Bernie Sanders and other progressives on Wednesday applauded President Joe Biden's words of support for Amazon workers—and rejected the White House's attempt to temper the president's statement, calling on the administration to proudly and unequivocally align itself with pro-worker efforts.

In a speech to the North America's Building Trades Unions (NABTU), Biden spoke about the creation of the White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment, which is "dedicated to mobilizing the federal government's policies, programs, and practices to empower workers to organize and successfully bargain with their employers."

"Unions are about providing dignity and respect. That's why I created the White House task force to make sure the choice belongs to workers alone," Biden said before smiling and adding. "And by the way, Amazon, here we come. Watch. Watch.”"

Reminder: The whole reason Labor Day exists is that it was a day factory workers in the U.S. would go on strike if they felt they weren't being paid enough or had unsafe work conditions, and they would remain on strike until their bosses met with them to meet at least some of their demands. Back in the late 19th and early 20th centuries if Labor Day worker strikes occurred they were very successful in benefiting the lives of unions, but nowadays so few Americans are in unions at a time when we desperately need them.

A rare critiique 3:17 into a nearly 12 minute video but to me he was asking if the executive branch will be putting its thumb on the scale against Amazon and she was clarifying that it was just a comment on Biden's personal feeling and not a statement of government policy specifically regarding Amazon. It's not like "Yeah, Merrick Garland is gonna bring out a guillotine, figuratively speaking, with Bezos' name on it!" would be an acceptable answer.

The USA gov has billions invested in Amazon's online cloud storage, they are the biggest contract with Amazon

Seemed more like a clarification that the government wouldn't be pushing workers to unionize, rather supporting their right to unionize if they choose. Doesn't seem like much of a walk back IMO.

I do understand it looks bad the government going after individual companies specially before any inquiry or court ruling.

Calm down guys - the message is the same if you are angry or pleasant. Worry about high BP.

The question was specifically asking if Biden was endorsing specifically Amazon's employee's efforts to unionize. Biden was not doing that and I don't think it would be a good idea for him to do so. Not a good look to be choosing sides in the unionization of individual companies. I think he should do as Psaki said he meant, and support every American worker's ability to organize in a more generally national scope.

As for Ana's mention of. But I hope she doesn't mean that that agency deals with like complaints about worker's ability to organize or complaints about employers that are stopping organization. That would be like saying that cops are directly involved with a man and his wife's arguments. But we all understand that isn't true. They just may have to get involved if it gets too bad.

Yeah. Alot of folks feel she shouldnt have done that, and it wasnt necessary. Biden has proven able to water himself down when he wants to. He didnt want to, or need to

Of the People, by the People, for the People; their position on all issues should agree with the average person, otherwise their position inside of Our Government, bought & sold. Their concern's neither you nor I.

So much for TYT not calling out Democrats for supporting multimillion dollar corporations for influencing their reporting. It seems like they give credit where credit's due.

Isn't the NLRB supposed to be a neutral party even though they are a government agency? That's probably the reason she was careful not to imply they are Union advocates.
