Tile Shower Wall Remodel/Leak Repair For 91 Year Old Widow

In this video, we show you a devastating engineering disaster at the condo of a 91 year old widow friend of ours. Like many in this 55 and older condo, she had a one piece plastic shower pan and she had a shower leaking from drain failure. Those plastic shower pans are notorious for flexing too much and putting stress at the shower drain connection. Her shower drain leaked onto the drywall ceiling of the neighbor below her and his ceiling caved in! Plumbers were called in to remove the old drain, and they had to remove the bottom 24" of tile clear out all damaged drywall, and they built up a wood curb with a vinyl shower pan liner for us. Part of this bathroom renovation to repair shower tile involves rebuilding the pre-slope shower pan. this new shower pan installation is done using shower pan installation mortar. We also call this floor mud. After that we show you the shower surround install, and waterproofing of the walls prior to installation of shower surround tile.
