Let's be realistic here for a minute and just understand that they are in business to make money to begin with! & if a tech(such as myself) can beat the labor guides time every body wins! Even the customer because you get your car back sooner! And arent you paying for my expertise to begin with? What sites like this do not tell you about is the overhead that auto repair shops deal with which is higher than any other business in the nation! Plus we mechanics need to constantly update our knowledge base which is very expensive! Classes to attend and updating the repair manuals weather online or in shop books or computer updates! The profit margin is not that great unlike what this site says. and as an auto tech my personal overhead is 100% higher than the average brain surgeon or heart specialist anywhere in the world! pLUS THE KNOWLEDGE WE NEED TO MAINTAIN IS FAR GREATER THAN THE AFORE MENTIONED SPECIALISTS AS WELL. tHEY ONLY NEED TO REMEMBER ONE SPECIFIC AREA. i HAVE TO REMEMBER ALL THE DIFFERENT CAR MAKES AND MODELS PLUS plus plus! (Sorry didn't mean to yell ok) And remember that what i do for you when it comes to repairing your car is as important as anything a doctor does for you! Your life is in my hands even more so than a doctors! Think about it like this, You bring your car to me because your brakes don't work right. I do the needed repairs and you brakes work better than ever! Now that is one thing If i screw up in the process & your brakes fail when you need them most the possibilitys are endless! Your life an how many other lives depend on me doing the job right! Right? So always consider all the factors. And yes a good mechanic is hard to find this is true!
