All these aircraft would make a new Ace Combat game sweeter than ever before! 😍

Entirely out of science fiction!

I kind of love how impractical and massive the Lockheed CL-1201 is, it's like something you'd draw as a kid, if that makes sense? I wouldn't be surprised if the bloke who came up with it just did it as a joke and didn't expect anyone else to actually give it consideration.

I lived under a flight path for Dover Air Force base in Delaware, and C5 Galaxy aircraft frequently flew at very low altitudes on approach and takeoffs over my house. It never failed to create a feeling of awe that something that large was just casually running around up there. I still regret never visiting the base to get a closer look at one.

Can you imagine the hell unleashed if one of those oil planes crashed?

That Lockheed design is nearly the size of Star Trek's Enterprise. 🤣
What's also stupid about it is the size of the airfield you'd need.

the cl-1201 is like if they tried to make star wars real without the magic metals and science

I adore the idea of an aircraft designed to carry so much (heavy) crude oil that it needed so many engines that it would end up consuming much of the oil it was carrying just to get from point of origin to destination. A new take on the Pareto formula: 80% of the oil consumed to deliver the remaining 20%. An economic miracle.

It takes forever to board 200 passengers, I don't think it would be sensible to try to board 4000. Still, interesting design.
